With popular first-person shooter games like Counter Strike, Quake, World of Warcraft and Unreal Tournament, these players are gaining attention with highly competitive, adrenaline-driven gaming. Worldwide tournaments feature all the bells and whistles of a techie version of the Super Bowl.

I wouldn’t go as far as celebrity, but the game is growing and I’m glad I’m a part of it. I feel like a pioneer. I don’t know why anyone wouldn’t want to play video games, and I think someday that’ll be a reality."

More and more college athletes are becoming household names without shoe deals, video game endorsements or a weekly paycheck. And more and more often, people are asking if colleges and universities should pay student athletes. The answer is no. But should companies like Nike have to give student athletes a piece of their jersey sales? Absolutely.
